Begin your day with a visit to Quito Botanical Garden, located within Parque La Carolina. Home to a wide variety of Ecuador’s native flora, the garden offers an introduction to the country’s remarkable biodiversity and the different ecosystems found across its varied landscapes. As you explore its pathways, discover collections of aquatic plants, medicinal gardens, cacti, native fruit trees and cloud forest species, as well as greenhouses filled with orchids and a permanent bonsai display.

Continue to La Capilla del Hombre, the striking museum dedicated to the work of Ecuadorian artist Oswaldo Guayasamín, set on a hillside in Quito’s Bellavista district with views across the city. One of Ecuador’s most celebrated artists, Guayasamín was known for powerful works exploring human suffering, injustice and the experiences of Latin America’s indigenous communities. Designed as both a gallery and a cultural monument, La Capilla del Hombre houses an important collection of his paintings and sculptures, alongside pre-Columbian artefacts and religious art from his private collection. This thought-provoking visit offers a deeper insight into Ecuador’s artistic and cultural identity.
