Go behind the scenes of some of the world’s best-known films at Weta Workshop in Wellington, the creative studio behind costumes, props, weapons, vehicles and special effects for productions including The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar, District 9 and Blade Runner 2049.
Join a 90-minute guided tour through the workshop’s creative spaces, where you can see a range of film props, costumes and vehicles up close. Watch the team at work and learn about the techniques used to create detailed and realistic movie pieces, with the opportunity to try some of the tools of the trade in Manufacture Alley.
The experience also includes priority access to a documentary in the Weta Cave, exploring the history of the Weta Group and its development over more than three decades. Afterwards, browse the Weta Cave shop for film collectibles and see life-sized sculptures and additional movie exhibits in the mini museum.
