Twin Glacier Flight

Highlights:

• Fly over Westland National Park and Franz Josef Glacier
• Land on the glacier’s snow-covered surface
• Take in views of the Southern Alps and surrounding alpine landscape

Take a helicopter flight over the Franz Josef Glacier, rising above the lush subtropical forests of Westland National Park towards the Southern Alps. Climb to around 6,000 feet before landing on the glacier’s snow-covered surface.

Step out onto the snow to experience the alpine landscape from above and at ground level, with views across the glacier and surrounding mountains. Temperatures on the snow can be several degrees cooler than in Franz Josef village.

• Plenty of film (or memory cards) for your camera
• Clothing – Wear comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for wearing on the snow.
• Occasionally the temperate can be 5-10 degrees cooler on the snow than it is in the village.
• Check with our ground-crew if you are unsure of what to wear
• Sunglasses
